Balanced Double Surround System
Featuring unique technologies such as Forward Focused Bipolar Array (FFBA), Balanced Double Surround System™ (BDSS) drivers, an integrated subwoofer, and passive bass radiators, BP9080X loudspeakers deliver the absolute pinnacle in immersive home cinema sound.
The BP9080x premier technology is our patented Forward Focused Bipolar Array (FFBA). The BP9080x array incorporates three 5.25” midrange drivers (two front-facing/one rear-facing) and two 1” aluminum dome tweeters (front and rear-facing). By simultaneously firing both forward and backward, a naturalistic delay is added to the sound that creates a sense of immense depth in rooms of any size.
The BP9080x includes a built-in powered 12” subwoofer, which results in more consistent bass throughout your room while eliminating the need to invest in a standalone subwoofer. Coupled with the BP9080x’s dual passive bass radiators—which dramatically increase the speaker’s bass-producing surface area—you’ll feel impactful low end below the range of human hearing—all the way down to 18Hz.
All mid/bass woofers in the BP9080x feature our innovative Balanced Double Surround System™ (BDSS) technology which improves driver excursion. BDSS results in a wider, more uniform midrange soundstage throughout your listening environment and also enables the BP9080x’s drivers to play lower and blend better with its built-in subwoofer. With a more consistent soundstage and detailed mids and lows, BDSS drivers ensure that with the BP9080x, you’re always in the best seat in the house.
The BP9080’s Aluminum Dome Tweeters feature ultralight, rigid construction that enables them to play significantly higher frequencies than we can hear with incredibly fast and accurate transient response. This provides effortless, distortion-free performance within and beyond the audible range—perfect for the enjoyment of high resolution audio.
It’s not just the massive soundstage, thunderous bass, and detailed drivers that make the BP9080x an integral component in your home theater speaker system. The BP9080x also features Intelligent Bass Control, a disappearing design, and an integrated height module for a truly immersive and powerful 3D sound experience.
Continuing the BP9080x dedication to superior cinematic sonic experiences, they have a height speaker module built in, enabling you to take full advantage of Dolby Atmos and DTS:X 3D audio. When you integrate the dramatic vertical dimension they provide with the stunning depth of field, wide soundstage, and deep bass impact offered by the Forward Focus Bipolar Array, Balanced Double Surround System drivers, and integrated powered subwoofers, you’ll enjoy games, music, and film with a full level of 3d sound immersion unlike anything you’ve ever experienced before.
Intelligent Bass Control, a Definitive Technology exclusive, enables you to experience powerful deep bass performance from the BP9080x without sacrificing optimal midrange clarity. Intelligent Bass Control achieves this by utilizing 56-bit digital signal processing to allow boosting of the bottom two octaves of your signal without altering the bass-to-midbass blending and crossover point. Combined with BP9080x’s resonance-free cabinets, Intelligent Bass Control ensures that your chosen bass level will never get in the way of dialogue or any other aspect of the soundtrack.
The BP9080x is wrapped in an acoustically transparent black cloth grille that won’t affect the sound. As soon as you dim the lights, they disappear into your room—so you can focus on the movie, not your speakers.
We understand that you make a statement with your choice of home theater components. The BP9080x wasn’t just designed to sound sensational; they also make for a compelling yet understated visual presence in your home.
All the advances that make the BP9000 series the ultimate home cinema speaker system apply to beautiful multi-channel music reproduction as well— it’s like sitting with the mix engineer when watching concerts or music videos, or when listening to surround audio from FLAC, Blu-ray, or SACD sources.
