Mythos XTR-50, Gem, SuperCube II system

"I was astonished by what I heard...I couldn’t believe the quality and quantity of sound. "
"I was amazed at the dynamic capability and refined sound of these compact speakers. Each model -- mains, surrounds, and subwoofers -- blended together to provide a well-balanced soundfield that I found very involving when watching movies or listening to music. Because it is so revealing, the Definitive Mythos XTR-50 is best matched with good electronics. If you do, you’ll be rewarded with phenomenal sound to match these speakers’ great looks."

Mythos XTR-50, Gem, SuperCube III Home Theater Speaker System
Sound + Vision

"...it's a fantastic bargain "
"Listening to the Definitive Technology Mythos XTR-50 do its stuff with movie soundtracks was like watching a 98-pound fashion model sling an 80-pound bag of cement over her shoulder: It’s hard to believe it’s possible even after you’ve witnessed it…I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend the XTR-50 even for a large, serious media room. And given that Definitive Technology has priced it no higher than most other on-walls even though there’s nothing else like it on the market, it’s a fantastic bargain."

"How Perfect Can Perfect Get? "
"...the beauty of the new
Mythos XTR-50 is more than skin
deep.
At the moment, I don't think there's a better combination
of size, appearance, performance,
and price in any other on-wall
speaker you can buy. The
XTR-5O's beautiful styling is
apparent upon first sight, but it
doesnt take much listening time
to realize that this fabulous looking
speaker sounds fabulous as
well. It's a stunner that will steal
the show regardless of how good
your flat-panel HDTV is."

Mythos STS Multichannel Speaker System
HomeTheaterSound.com
by Roger Kanno (August 1, 2009 )
"The pinnacle of performance "
"The Mythos STS speakers comprise a compact system with striking looks and astonishing performance at a reasonable price. To my mind, there is currently nothing else on the market quite like the Mythos STS SuperTowers, or this surround system based on them. These eye-catching loudspeakers give up very little in the way of performance to more conventional-looking designs, and in most respects are at the pinnacle of performance for speakers in this price range."

"Put these DefTechs at the top of your list. "
"...the ProCinema 1000 does continue DefTech’s tradition of high performance at a bargain price."
"The ProMonitor 1000 exudes elegance."
"Definitive Technology’s ProCinema 1000 system is a killer combination of looks and performance. Despite its sleek, high-tech-looking cabinets, it gives up little in performance to larger, conventional bookshelf speakers; the biggest compromise you might need to make will be in ultimate volume level. And with its bargain price of $1724, you won’t have to pay through the nose for this system’s looks and performance -- something you often have to do with lifestyle speakers. Put these DefTechs at the top of your audition list."

SuperCube Reference

"...one of the best subwoofers on the planet.
"
...the SuperCube Reference promises to be one of the last subwoofers you'll ever need to buy.
The drums blew me away. Whether I was listening at reasonable wife-tolerated levels or the sickest of max volume, everything stayed together and was clear and detailed.
The Definitive Technology SuperCube Reference can provide all the bass you could ever need for a room of almost any size...This sub plays to extreme listening levels and, while I am a big fan of multiple subwoofers, I am completely happy with my single SuperCube Reference. It is capable of filling my large room with powerful and accurate bass and does equally as well with shaking the floors for movies as it does filling in the bottom end for music.

The Mythos STS SuperTower system is Sound & Vision magazine's Audio Product of the Year
Sound & Vision magazine
by Sound & Vision magazine (December 2008 )
"Sound & Vision’s 2008 Audio Product of the Year. "
"When S&V handed out a 2007 Editors’ Choice award to Def Tech’s Mythos ST SuperTower speaker, we called it ‘the essence of elegance, both visually and sonically.’ Well, the same thing can be said of the newest Mythos model, the STS.
A slightly smaller version of the ST with the same built-in 300-watt powered sub, the STS also manages to deliver dynamic, full-range sound from a stylish, slender — and, in this case, less costly — package. When bundled with the company’s Gem surrounds and its new, multi- purpose Mythos Nine speaker for a center speaker, the performance of this $4,616 package was nothing short of stunning. The STS SuperTower-based system might not be playing in the cost-no-object high-performance leagues, but it manages to get all of the music and home theater basics exactly right, and does so for a reasonable price. And that’s why Def Tech’s STS rig richly deserves to be named Sound & Vision’s 2008 Audio Product of the Year."

Its combination of beautiful contemporary styling, small footprint, powered woofer section and high performance is unrivalled at its price point."
